Small businesses are the lifeblood of most communities and with COVID-19, small businesses are finding new and creative ways to serve their customers. This is especially true for bridal retailers. Without brides coming in to try on gowns, stores are essentially empty. But! Our group of retailers are no ordinary small businesses. Instead of shutting their doors completely, many of our retailers have found innovative ways to serve the brides of the communities.
One of the coolest things our retailers are doing is sewing masks for healthcare workers. With an excess supply of garment bags readily available, stores are putting their seamstress skills to work! Stores like The Gown Shop, RK Bridal, Moondance Bridal, K and B Bridal, and J Andrews are coming together to sew these essential masks. We are especially proud to hear stories from stores Natalie Ann Brides, whose co-owner took her sewing machine home and is making masks for our local food shops and the elderly.
Possibly one of the most innovative ways stores are serving brides, are through virtual appointments. Some, like Rebecca’s Wedding Boutique, are even letting brides try on gowns in the safety and comfort of their own homes! Virtual appointments range from meet-and-greets and getting-to-know-you sessions to curated collections to shop from and mimosa meetups – like the ladies of Wedding Angels are hosting. Stores all over have hopped on the virtual train, from Twirl in Lexington and Ladies of Lineage in the Carolinas to Studio I Do in Virginia Beach and Town & Country Bridal in New Orleans.
But virtual appointments aren’t the only way stores are allowing brides to shop. Many are hosting flash sales or online accessory shopping to support their staff and store while remaining socially distanced. The Bridal Boutique Edmonton has been hosting an online sample sale for brides who need their gowns ASAP. Simply shop and the store will ship your Wedding Dresses to you. One & Only Bridal is also allowing brides to shop online for accessories. For brides whose gowns have arrived, some stores like I Do Bridal and True Society by Belle Vogue Bridal are offering curbside pickups.
Working hand-in-hand with designers, these stores have truly done all they can to support their brides and their communities in the time of the Coronavirus pandemic. From making sure all brides receive their gowns to supporting their staff, this incredible group of retailers are making a difference in flattening the curve.
